Overview

Journey through Sri Lanka's ancient heartland on a 4-day private tour, exploring three UNESCO World Heritage Sites — Dambulla, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa — plus the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

The Cultural Triangle encompasses the land between three of Sri Lanka's most revered ancient cities — Dambulla, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa — a region steeped in civilisation dating back to the 4th century BC. Wandering through the extensive ruins here sparks the imagination, allowing visitors to envision the lives of the proud people who once shaped this remarkable corner of the world.

Evidence of extraordinary engineering surrounds you at every turn: vast irrigation tanks spanning hundreds of acres, their waters retained by manually constructed earthen bunds, speak to the remarkable ingenuity of the ancient kings who ruled here. Three of Sri Lanka's seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites lie within this triangle — Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Sigiriya — making it an unparalleled destination for history lovers.

Over four immersive days, you will be collected from Bandaranaike International Airport and whisked north to Dambulla, where the world's largest painted cave temple awaits. Day two brings you to the sprawling ruins of Anuradhapura — magnificent stupas, sacred pools, and ancient temples that served as the island's capital for over a thousand years. On day three, explore the royal city of Polonnaruwa before venturing into the enchanting Hiriwadunna Village for a bullock cart ride, a walk through paddy fields, and a boat journey to a local home for an authentic Sri Lankan lunch. The final morning is reserved for the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, rising dramatically from the jungle floor, before heading south through Matale to the cultural capital of Kandy.
