Overview
Venture into the wild on a thrilling half-day jeep safari at Minneriya National Park, where you can witness one of the world's largest gatherings of wild Asian elephants — an unforgettable encounter with nature in the heart of Sri Lanka.
Set out on an exhilarating half-day safari adventure to Minneriya National Park, one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated wildlife destinations. During the dry season, the park's vast reservoir draws a remarkable congregation of Sri Lankan elephants — typically numbering between 150 and 200, with some accounts reaching as high as 700. These majestic animals migrate from Wasgamuwa National Park, finding ample food and shelter within Minneriya's lush forest. Throughout a memorable 3-hour jeep safari, you'll have the chance to spot not only these incredible elephants but also an impressive array of wildlife, including 24 mammal species, 160 bird species, 9 amphibian species, 25 reptile species, 26 fish species, and 75 butterfly species. Pickup and drop-off from most closely located hotels in Sigiriya is included, and refreshments and water bottles will be provided. Please note that as elephants shift between parks, your safari may be conducted at Minneriya, Kawdulla, or Hurulu Eco Park based on wildlife movement at the time of your tour.
