Rising 200 metres above the surrounding plains of the Sri Lankan heartland, Sigiriya's Lion Rock is one of the most dramatic and awe-inspiring sights in all of South Asia. This full-day tour departs from Negombo and takes you deep into the Cultural Triangle for an unforgettable encounter with Sri Lanka's ancient past.
The Dambulla Rock Cave Temple is your first stop — perched 160 metres above the surrounding landscape and surrounded by over 80 documented caves, five of these cave temples contain extraordinary collections of Buddha statues, paintings depicting scenes from the Dhamma, and sacred shrines that have been revered for over two thousand years.
From Dambulla, the tour continues to Sigiriya, the ancient rock fortress that dominates the central plains. The steep climb to the summit rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views and the chance to explore the remarkable frescoes, mirror wall, and the legendary lion's paw gateway. For the adventurous, the nearby Pidurangala Rock offers a parallel viewpoint with equally stunning vistas.
