Why This Adventure Shines
Epic Tram Ride with 360° Views
Soar 2.5 miles over Chino Canyon on the world’s largest rotating aerial tram. As the tram ascends (~10 minutes), you start in arid desert, cross through five life zones, and arrive at lush alpine terrain. Temperature drops dramatically—bring layers.Alpine Oasis at Mountain Station
At nearly 8,516 feet, the Mountain Station is your gateway to cooler air, observation decks stretching over Coachella Valley & beyond, a natural history museum, comfy dining, and over 50 miles of hiking trails. On clear days you can even see the Salton Sea and distant mountain peaks.Guided Nature Walks Below the Pines
From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, volunteers lead two easy walks each Sunday (no registration / no fee):
• 11:00 AM – Desert View Trail (~1.5 miles / gently undulating)
• 1:30 PM – Long Valley Nature Trail (~0.75 miles loop / easy level)
Ideal for spotting alpine flora, listening to bird calls, and learning local ecology.Desert View Trail Highlights
A gentle 1.5-mile loop that branches from the Mountain Station. You'll pass several “notches” or overlooks—Notch 3 offers the most dramatic, wide-angle valley views (on clear days, even as far as the Salton Sea). Interpretive plaques line the path so you also learn about Jeffrey pine, desert wash patterns, and the mountain’s geology.
