Itinerary
Nine Arch Bridge
Visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the Bridge in the Sky. This magnificent viaduct bridge stands as one of the finest examples of colonial-era railway construction in Sri Lanka. Built entirely by local labour under British supervision and completed in 1919, the bridge was designed to accommodate a nine-degree curve and a steep gradient. The innovative use of concrete cornice blocks and locally-produced sand-cement facing blocks have helped it endure over a century of use. Standing before this arched masterpiece with Ella's lush hills as a backdrop is a truly memorable experience.
Ravana Falls
Stand before Ravana Falls, one of Sri Lanka's widest waterfalls and a landmark of Ella. The falls cascade approximately 25 metres from an oval-shaped concave rock formation, creating a dramatic curtain of water surrounded by tropical forest. This iconic waterfall is deeply woven into Sri Lankan mythology and cultural heritage, making it a highlight of any visit to the region.
Diyaluma Falls
Experience the grand Diyaluma Falls, the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka at 220 metres (720 feet) and the 619th highest in the world. The journey to the top rewards you with breathtaking natural pools perched along the cliff edge, where you can take a refreshing dip while enjoying sweeping views of the surrounding valley and hills. The natural bathing pools here are among the most spectacular in the country.
